Montmartre Restaurant in Cartagena Old City is a super cozy gem with great ambiance. The owner Valerie is quite arguably one of the nicest people you could hope to meet and is a wealth of information about Cartagena and the surrounding destinations after you move on from this beautiful city. The service was so attentive and hospitable, plus the food is to die for. The Chef sent out a falafel appetizer to start us off while we were waiting for our course the C’est Cheese which was made with Camembert in a puff pastry with a mango & spiced chutney sprinkled with thyme, honey & walnuts which we simply split. May I say just delicious! We then each had the French onion soup which was every bit as good as any found in the best French restaurants in NYC. The dinner course for me was the Duck Magret, which consisted of a full Duck Breast accompanied by a carrot & orange sauce with crudites & soy, in a rosemary & cardamon reduction. The duck was perfectly crisp on the outside and pink and juicy on the inside. A better tasting duck would be hard to find anywhere. Jeanne had the Filet Mignon. The steak itself was local Colombian sourced and equally as good as a NY Fillet from Peter Luger’s. It came with Potatoes Gratin cooked in milk & cream. Everything was perfectly done. For dessert we split the Crème Brulee that was off the hook good. If you are in Cartagena, go to Montmartre. You won’t regret it! Thank you, Valerie, for a such a phenomenal dining experience at your restaurant!
